Hannah Robie
Hannah is a Northern California native who transplanted to the Bay Area in order to attend UC Berkeley. After graduating with a bachelor’s degree in the History of Art she began working as a Studio Assistant for an established Bay Area Figurative artist, wherein she found herself most inspired by crossover between the art and food world. Simultaneous work for a local artisanal creamery founded by two Chez Panisse alumni fueled Hannah’s passion for food, fostered through membership in the Student Food Collective and Cal Cooking Club. The creamery drew Hannah more deeply into the local, sustainable food industry through involvement in weekly Berkeley Farmer’s Markets and through hands-on experience preparing the superior products created with seasonal, local, and sustainable ingredients. Following this exposure to good food, Hannah began volunteering at The Edible Schoolyard located at Martin Luther King Jr. Middle School. It was here that she found a community of inspiring people dedicated to teaching Farm to Table practices to the nation’s youth, and here that she decided firmly to pursue a career furthering the breadth and reach of the sustainable food movement.
